Summary

These are full-time positions that are responsible for driving various types of equipment used in differing applications to transport and deliver machinery, equipment and materials; and providing safe and efficient transportation of such freight (including that which may be flammable, volatile, explosive, or otherwise dangerous) to and from terminals, refineries, gas plants, remote field locations, or other various customer pick-up and delivery points. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily with or without reasonable accommodation. 

Responsibilities

  • Driving truck or equipment in a safe and careful manner as dispatched, including to outlying locations.
  • Traveling and working for extended periods as necessary for drill site requirements, customer work orders, and miscellaneous company assignments.
  • Following rules and regulations of the industry as required by the Department of Transportation (DOT); following company policies and procedures as required in the Driver and Operator Standards and Procedures and Driver and Operator Point System; and maintaining current knowledge of Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations.
  • Reporting compliance problems to supervisor. 
  • Reading and being knowledgeable of Material Safety Data Sheets for all goods being hauled, including knowing proper handling and disposal procedures for substances requiring specialized handling and disposal.
  • Performing basic maintenance requirements such as replacing hoses, fittings, and couplings.  Performs miscellaneous emergency roadside equipment repairs, such as changing tires, installing light bulbs, and making acceptable temporary repairs.
  • Attaching and removing full set of tire chains, multiple times each day as necessary, for maximum safety and efficiency in driving.
  • Keeping daily written vehicle and personal records as required; complying with rules and regulations of the DOT, Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), and other federal, state, and local agencies; and following company policies and procedures to maintain and report truck and driver information.
  • Remaining alert to potential hazardous concentrations of hydrogen sulfide (H2S); being trained in and understanding the dangers and ramifications of the presence of H2S; and carrying H2S training card on person at all times.
  • Operating standard communication equipment such as telephones, two-way radios and company radios for general dispatching requirements and to receive instructions, report accidents or emergencies, and coordinate changes in routes.
  • May be required to periodically work out of location other than base terminal for special assignments.

Qualifications

  • Must be at least twenty-one (21) years of age, or older.
  • Possession of a valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with all endorsements and an acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR).
  • English language fluency, verbal and written.
  • Acceptable results of a DOT physical.
  • Acceptable results of a pre-employment background check and drug/alcohol test.
